Who are you!

Hello!! i am scott, colloquially known as scott scott scott scott or scott xylophone or scott mallet or whatever instrument i'm on. my handle "xylophony" is a portmanteau of phony... drumroll... one-handed roll even... and xylo. shocker, i know.

i'm a 16 yo (09/01 mmdd) multifandom artist and musician stationed in the eastern part of NA. i call myself proudly unemployed, a title applicable to both my present, as a high school senior, and my future, as something probably compsci or compeng-related. when i'm not lamenting about the hopelessness of my forthcoming, i'm normally practicing the xylophone (my namesake, if you couldn't tell) or doodling whatever i'm currently into ᵐᵒʳᵉˢᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᶠᵒʳᵐᵉʳ‧‧‧ or i suppose in this case, designing a website! i'm nonbinary and use they/them pronouns.

hobbies?

my hobbies generally tend to linger in one genre haha. i've stuck w/ illustration for roughly 9 (?) years. i began in 2017, whenever third grade was, but only began calling myself an illustrator around middle school. my art's grown a lot, but it's pretty clear i'm self-taught based off my progression over those 9 years lol. i dabble a little in animation, both frame by frame and tweening, but wouldn't quite call myself an animator.

as for music, i played piano for a brief amount of time in my childhood before quitting. i couldn't say how long. in third grade, i picked up the violin for a year or two and then dropped that. come my junior year, i, sick with my friends begging me to join the school's marching band, picked up mallet percussion, beginning with the vibraphone, and absolutely fell in love. now, after one season of indoor perc on xylo and a second season of outdoor also on xylo rapidly approaching, i aspire to march my first season with DCI!

what about compsci? i've always liked games and was chronically online (at least until the whole marching band revolution but that's a can of worms for another day) and the idea of programming always interested me. in freshman and sophomore year i took my school's compsci 1 and 2 classes and enjoyed them thoroughly. but unfortunately, i'm now abandoning my opportunity to take AP compsci... a decision i regret deeply... don't talk to me about it... my goal tho is to somehow make it into cybersecurity. or if compsci fails (job market) maybe i'll try my hand at compeng... in that case pray for me.

what do you like?

for games, i like the ace attorney series (especially TGAA), AI: the somnium files trilogy, bendy series, GHOST TRICK!!!, mad rat dead, and zero escape. there are many, many other games i've played and liked, but i'm just keepin it short.

i don't watch many shows, but i adore moral orel, taking #1 in my heart. i also like the marvin trilogy and hetalia.

my favorite music artist oat rn is glass beach / you are an angel! if my headphones are on, 99% chance i'm listening to them. i was also once a die-hard will wood fan, and it feels wrong to not mention him somewhere here, considering how much his music kinda changed my life.

and i obviously like the xylophone :] and its percussion siblings ofc. my favorite colors are brick red and olive green, and my favorite palette may or may not be the site's palette rn. my favorite shapes are hexagons and pentagons. my favorite corps right now is bleucoats, which could potentially change (WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY BE EVERYTHING). sometimes i even watch the occasional WGI show

why build a website?

so many reasons. it's nice to have hobbies, learning new things is fun; i like typing; i think it's cool to make something yourself to represent yourself; i like the level of customization that social media and other sites don't really offer (even if i don't really use it to its fullest capabilities lol); decentralizing the internet is cool; it kind of feels more lonely? talking feels like throwing pebbles into the void and i suppose it's comforting knowing the few who know about this site and the fewer who follow it are either irls whom i trusted with this info or anons who can't connect it back to meirl lol, it's my niche anon circle yaaayyy; i like the aesthetic of simple early 2000's internet sites (sorry im a bit of a larper i know i was born in 2009); building your own website is impressive to those unaware of how simple it is to make a static site sorree; i was inspired by the artists before me who did the same; i think html, css, and javascript can be helpful, especially for my desired field of employment,
